I recently went camping here and it was a very decent experience for how close it was to home. I was able to spend the night here and wake up with plenty of time to make it home for brunch. The morning was extremely beautiful with the views looking down at the valleys below. There were also several owl species calling in the night.
The path to the meadow is shaded once you cross the fire road below the parking. You can also continue walking past the meadow through a small gate for a mid strenuous uphill hike. There's also a nice, fairly flat unshaded path on the other side of the meadow.
